The
Institute
for Mobility
and
Longevity is
a non-profit
organization
that makes
orthopaedic
research,
education
and clinical
excellence
possible. It
is uniquely
positioned
to make a
difference
on a global
level due to
age
demographics
the world
over. What
was once our
grandparents'
problem has
now become
our own, and
the
Institute
for Mobility
and
Longevity
exists to
help mind
the gap in
orthopaedic
research,
knowledge
and
technology.
Our programs
include The
Samaritan
Fund, which
benefits the
underinsured
in need of
orthopaedic
care,
Pediatric
Gait
Analysis,
which
impacts
children
with
musculoskeletal
disorders,
Implant
Retrieval
and Design,
which
results in
stronger,
longer
lasting
orthopaedic
“hardware”
and Sports
Biomechanics/Injury
Prevention.
Our programs
are
operationalized
at our
non-profit
Orthopaedic
Research Lab
located in
West Palm
Beach,
Florida.
Staffed with
talented
engineers
and
researchers,
the team
works
directly
with
subjects and
patients to
learn, study
and transfer
valuable
knowledge to
health
professionals
the world
over. While
the
accomplishments
of The
Institute
for Mobility
and
Longevity
during its
15 years of
existence
have been
extraordinary,
it is only
the
beginning of
what lies
ahead...
Over the
next several
years, the
Institute
for Mobility
and
Longevity is
poised to
make a
quantum leap
into the
non-profit
orthopaedic
movement in
the U.S. and
abroad.
Moving
forward with
new ideas
and
cutting-edge
research,
combined
with a
creative
philanthropy
and a fresh
major gifts
program,
donors will
see the
organization
make
significant
progress in
research and
implant
advancements
that, as its
mission
statement
articulates,
“...helps
create a
world where
longevity
and mobility
are improved
for all.”
BioMotion's
Institute
for Mobility
and
Longevity
was founded
in 1987 in
Boston,
Massachusetts,
by W. Andrew
Hodge, M.D.,
FACS, with a
mission to
pioneer
research and
education in
orthopaedics
and
orthopaedic
biomechanics.
It is a
non-profit,
research and
education
organization
with
headquarters
in West Palm
Beach,
Florida,
where it has
matured and
expanded its
value
proposition
since 1992.
Dr. W.
Andrew Hodge
is a board
certified
orthopaedic
surgeon
specializing
in joint
replacement
surgery. He
has special
fellowship
training in
total joint
surgery at
Harvard's
Massachusetts
General
Hospital (MGH)
where he
practiced
for 10
years. He
founded
BioMotion's
Institute
for Mobility
and
Longevity,
co-located
at MGH and
Massachusetts
Institute of
Technology,
in 1987 with
an emphasis
on research,
education
and clinical
excellence.
In 1992, Dr.
Hodge moved
his clinical
joint
replacement
practice and
research
organization
to Palm
Beach
County,
Florida.
Anchored in
Good
Samaritan
Medical
Center, the
Institute
for Mobility
and
Longevity
has since
been a
catalyst
toward the
development
of a
multi-faceted,
research-driven
health care
organization
with
emphasis on
biomechanical
engineering.
The
Institute
for Mobility
and
Longevity
along with
the
Orthopaedic
Research
Laboratory,
Hodge
BioMotion
Orthopaedics
and Hodge
BioMotion
International,
are all
dedicated to
creating a
world where
longevity
and mobility
are improved
for all. At
its core,
the
Institute
for Mobility
and
Longevity
recognizes
the growing
need to
develop and
implement
cost-effective
treatment
for aging
patients,
children
with
crippling
disabilities
and injury
prevention
techniques.
The critical
research
results in
advanced
technologies,
allowing
people of
all ages to
move better,
live longer
and lead
healthier,
more
productive
lives.
